SCOTHERN CRICKET CLUB
Dunholme does not have a team of their own but the neighboring village of Scothern does

Why don’t you enjoy some Scothern comfort in 2010!Summer is nearly here, so if you’re stumped for something to do or have been bowled over by the sport of cricket, then why don’t you come down to Scothern Cricket Club in 2010?Situated in a picturesque village six miles north east of Lincoln, Scothern CC is on the lookout for cricketers of all ages to join an ambitious and social team.Formed in 1965 with just one weekend senior playing XI, we now boast two weekend senior teams, two midweek XIs and five junior teams. The Saturday XI compete in Division 1 of the Lincolnshire League while our Sunday team are challenging for honours in the Lincoln Sunday Premier – a competition we have won no less than seven times. The junior section of our club formed in 2004 and has flourished ever since. Having started out with 12 initial members we are now up to 75, with our numbers growing and growing every year. We field junior teams from ages nine to 15 but you don’t have to wait until then to get involved, with our soft ball sessions open to those as young as four. Our junior section boasts some of the most qualified and respected coaches in the county. Our dedicated team is led superbly by Colin Holman, who is an ECB Level 3-qualified coach. As well as putting their time into the club, our coaches also provide over 200 hours of coaching in seven local primary schools – Ingham, Poly Platt, Scampton, Hackthorn, Welton St Mary’s, Dunholme St Chads and Ellison Boulters. We are particularly focused on increasing the level of cricket participation for girls.A Focus Club with Clubmark Accreditation who finished runner-up in the Lincolnshire sports club of the year in 2009, Scothern is a growing club that is always looking for players of all ages.Perhaps you are a junior hoping to become the next Freddie Flintoff or Charlotte Edwards, or maybe you are just keen to play locally. Whatever your situation, Scothern welcomes new faces both young and old ahead of the new season. So if you fancy joining us, or simply want some further information, contact Colin Holman on 01673 866285 or drop him an e-mail at colingholman@tiscali.co.uk.

WELTON FOOTBALL CLUB

At the recent AGM of Welton Football Club outgoing Chairman John Hill was awarded an Honorary Life Presidency and presented with a framed Welton FC football shirt in recognition of his 14 years dedication and service to the club, the past 8 of which had been as Club Chairman.
John first became involved with Welton FC when his son began playing for the club at 7 years of age. From this starting point in 1996 he helped manage & coach the then Under 8 team ultimately taking them through to Under 16. He was a supportive parent, helping with the various functions that go with operating a team, whether putting up nets, providing transport, acting as linesman or referee. He is still seen on the sidelines supporting his son who now plays for one of the adult men's teams
He has always supported fundraising and celebration events away from the field of play, been an advocate of the Club wherever he goes and been instrumental in securing significant sponsorship and affinity schemes that have benefited the Club and those that play for it.
John became club chairman in 2002 at a time when there were only 11 teams. Under his leadership and enthusiasm the Club grew to 21 teams, now offering football opportunities from age 6 through to adult and has grown to become one of the largest in the local area with more than 200 registered players, an achievement he is justly proud of.
His stewardship has seen a financially stable, family friendly club achieve firstly Charter Standard Club status and more recently, CS Development Club accreditation. His inspiration and wisdom will continue to influence the Club and those around him.

DUNHOLME TENNIS CLUB

HELP REQUIRED! HELP REQUIRED! HELP REQUIRED! HELP REQUIRED!

Now the weather is here for a spot of tennis, wouldn’t it be nice if the Dunholme Tennis Club was open and you could enjoy the nice hot days playing with the children or just your partner.

Well with your help this could be done.  Dunholme Parish Council are looking for a small committee of people to reopen and run the Dunholme Tennis Club again.
They have spent a lot of money on the new sports pavilion and making the area look nice, so the surroundings you can play in are now much better.
If you would be interested in forming or being on the committee please contact the Parish Clerk Laura Richardson at 30 Wentworth Drive,
Dunholme,
Lincoln,
